The first port of call during our week long Royal Caribbean Cruise was to Labadee, Haiti. Located on the north coast of Haiti, Labadee sits amid spectacular mountains and lush foliage. Though privately owned, this destination still retains much of its local color.
In 1492, the island was discovered by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage to the New World. Originally named “La Isla Epanola”, it was later colonized by the French, whose influence is still prevalent in both culture and language.
In addition to the scenery, we loved the Hatian artistic culture and bought several friendship bracelets and handmade trinkets for family and friends.
